Dial Records (1946)

Dial Records was an American jazz record label, specializing in bebop.

It was founded in 1946 by Ross Russell, the late biographer of saxophonist Charlie Parker. It originated from the Tempo Music Shop, a Hollywood studio run by Russell. His partner was the lawyer and record collector Marvin Freeman, who claimed the capital for the new record label. Russell led the company for about ten years. The major musicians featured on the label were Parker, Miles Davis, Max Roach and Milt Jackson. Charlie Parker took the famous Dial-Sessions for the label in 1946 and 1947.
