Green sandy city

The green sandbush (Andrena viridescens) is a fleecy bug of the Andrenidae family. The scientific name of the species was published for the first time in 1916 by Henry Lorenz Viereck.

The green sand bee is a solitaire that is about 7 mm tall and is little hairy. His name refers to the green-blue shine on his body that can be seen in certain light instances or with a magnifying glass. Males have a white drawing on their head.

The species is mostly found in bermen, taluds, orchards, forest edges and overgrown slopes. He is dependent on the presence of honorary price, from which he collects pollen.

In Belgium, the species has not yet been observed. In 2015 and 2016, species were observed for the second and third times in 20 years, especially in Beersel. Where it used to be an individual, two relatively large populations with nesting females became perceived by that observation.
