Hartog Hamburger


Hartog Hamburger (Amsterdam, March 20, 1887 - Amsterdam, October 10, 1924) was a Dutch diamond grinder and baseball player.

Hamburger played for many years baseball at OVVO in Amsterdam, which was at the time in the main class. During a match on October 9, 1924, he received a knocked linedrive against the head as a field player. He died a day later on its consequences. As far as is known, he is the only European baseball player to die as a result of participation in this sport. Hamburger is the father of the resistance warrior and survivor of Auschwitz, Max Hamburger.
