Jean Bouttiau


Jean Bouttiau (3 September 1889 - Place and date of death unknown) was a Belgian football player who played as a midfielder. He played in First Class at Standard Liège and played six international matches with the Belgian football team. Career

Bouttiau debuted in June 1909 as midfielder in the first team of former Tweedeklasse Standard Liège, where his two-year-old brother Paul was already active. The team became champion and graduated to First Class. Bouttiau immediately acquired a regular base in the team that ended in the second half of the ranking in the first years.

Between 1911 and 1912, Bouttiau played six games with the Belgian football team and scored one goal in 1911 in the home match against France. Although his brother also played four matches for the national team, they were never put together.

In the Belgian football league that ended just before the start of the First World War, Standard ended with La Gantoise. After playing a test match that was lost, Standard returned to Second Class. By the outbreak of war, Bouttiau made a point behind his career at the highest level. He played 81 matches in First Class and scored 16 goals.
