MRP ribonuclease is a particular nuclease (i.e., an enzyme capable of hydrolyzing phosphodiester bonds between nucleotide nucleotide nucleotide subunits). It is involved in important biological processes such as mitochondrial DNA replication, cell cycle control and maturation of pre-rRNAs (specifically rRNA 5,8S).

The particularity of this enzyme is due to the presence of a non-polypeptide subunit consisting of an RNA molecule.
