Nicarete (heilige)


Nicarete, also called Niceras of Constantinople, (born in the second half of the 4th century in Nicomedia (the current İzmit), died around 440) was a Byzantine saint. Nicarete left her family to become a Constantinople pupil of Johannes Chrysostomos. All she owned gave them to the poor.

When John Chrysostomus was banned from Armenia, she went with her teacher. Niceras was a botanist working at the time of Emperor Arcadius of the East Roman Empire and holds the patron saint against stomach disorders. Her holiday is on December 27th. Externe link
