Chvostov (transliterated also Khvostov or Hvostov), ​​born August 8, 1776, graduated at the Corps of Cadets of the Navy. In 1802 he joined the Russian-American Company together with Gavriil Ivanovič Davydov. They left St. Petersburg in April 1802, and reached Ochotsk by land in August of the same year. From there they went to Kodiak, tracing the same route on the return trip. Davydov has published in Russian the story of this trip (St. Petersburg, 1810-1812).
