Vasili Koeznetsov


Vasili Koeznetsov (Russian: Василий Васильевич Кузнецов; Sofilovka, February 13, 1901 - Moscow, June 5, 1990) was a Russian politician of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He served three times as President of the USSR Supreme Soviet Presidency. biography

Koeznetsov was born in Sofilovka in Kostroma Oblast. He became a member of the Communist Party in May 1927. Between 1931 and 1933 he studied metal techniques in the United States.

Koeznetsov had several functions within his party since 1940. From March 12, 1946 to March 12, 1950, he was Chairman of the Council of Nationalities. He was also the first Russian Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs. From 7 October 1977 until 18 June 1986 he was Vice-President of the Soviet Supreme Soviet Bureau of the USSR. During this period he had to act three times as acting chairman of the Soviet Supreme Soviet Union of the USSR; from 10 November 1982 to 16 June 1983, from 9 February 1984 to 11 April 1984 and from 10 March 1985 to 27 July 1985.

In 1986, Koeznetsov retired. He died in Moscow in 1990.
