Zaans Medical Center

The Zaans Medical Center is a general hospital in the Dutch city of Zaandam. It is a regional hospital with a major orientation in the Zaan region and surrounding areas. History

When the John Hospital and Julian Hospital were merged in the 1980s, the new hospital was called The Heel. On October 11, 2004, the name changed to Zaans Medical Center, a name that was better suited to the central function of the hospital for the Zaan Region region. New building

Since February 2017, the Zaans Medical Center has launched a new building. The new hospital is designed to make patients no longer distant. It's a compact, durable and flexible deployable building with a so-called 'healing environment': a quiet color use, a home-style decor, a lot of green inside and out, and daylight coming through windows to the floor. All these aspects help people feel more comfortable and experience less stress. For patients staying at the hospital, this can even lead to less medication, less pain and a faster recovery.
