François Bozizé

François Bozizé Yangouvonda (Mouila, Gabon, October 14, 1946) is a former president of the Central African Republic. He came to power in March 2003 after leading an uprising against President Ange-Félix Patassé. After a transitional period, Bozizé won the presidential elections in 2005. There was a second round, because in the first round he did not get the majority of the votes. On March 24, 2013, Bozizé fled to the Democratic Republic of Congo, as rebels shot and captured the presidential palace. Bozizé was succeeded by rebel leader Michel Djotodia.
