Friedrichsburg

Friedrichsburg was the name with which it was called the sixteenth-century fortress built on the territory of what was at that time the village of Mannheim.

It was wanted by Prince Frederick IV of the Palatinate, who built it in 1606 together with the Rheinschance, the bridgehead built on the other side of the Rhine River.

The construction plan at that time included the construction of a grid road network similar to the Roman camps, a topology that would be preserved in the road structure of the future city of Mannheim. Links externalize the wikitesto
