Glaskas


Glaskas is a pop / rock band from South Africa (Humansdorp, Eastern Cape). The band, founded in 2004, originally consisted of Deon Meiring (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Gordon Evans (bass guitar) and Pierre Turner (drums).

Their songs are mostly sung in Afrikaans, but the band has also included some English songs.

The band has two CDs on its name: Revolution, Romance, Ruk and Roll from 2006 and Engele that shouts out of 2009. With the song Verloor myself, from the first album, the trio had a number 1 for 13 weeks position at MK (Music Channel, South African MTV). The second album produced the singles Meneer and Golflengte Verkeerdom. The third CD will be released in 2010 under the title On the Unmasked Heroine.

Some songs from the first album were used for the African comedy movie Bakgat (2008). For the future Bakgat 2 (2010), Glaskas has written a new song, entitled Bring.

Since 2008, the band's occupation: Deon Meiring (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Chris van Dyk (bass guitar, background vocals) and Lolke-Louis Claassen (drums, background vocals). In 2010, bassist Chris van Dyk was replaced by Francois Kleynhans.

Singer Meiring, alongside Glaskas, also participates in the Dance Dans Lisa project, together with Bouwer Bosch (singer of South African band Street children). Externe link
