Luitfried von Salvini-Plawen (Vienna, June 1, 1939 - October 22, 2014) is an Austrian professor and zooploog working at the Institute of Zoology at the University of Vienna. He conducted extensive research on the mothers and wrote the most important contributions about the molluscs in the third part of the Animal Kingdom's Encyclopedia of 1971, edited by Bernhard Grzimek.
From 1998 to 2001 he was chairman of the Unitas Malacologia.
