The European Championships shorttrack 2011 was held in the Thialf ice skating hall in Heerenveen from 14 to 16 January 2011, one week before the world championships sprint trackway. The title defenders were the winners of the European championships shorttrack 2010 in Dresden.
On the World Cup shorttrack in the pre-season, the Dutch won some medals for more than 10 years.
The men's tournament was dominated by Frenchman Thibaut Fauconnet, who won all four distances and thus also the final championship. In retrospect, he had to hand over these victories because of a doping suspension.
