IBFA Enlightenment Temple


International Buddhism Friendship Association (IBFA) Enlightenment Temple is a Chinese Buddhist temple in Chicago Chinatown founded in 1991 by local Chinese Vietnamese (Chinese Americans). Weekly chant services are held under the leadership of bhikkhuni's. The temple has three altars of: Sakyamuni Buddha, Bhaisajyaguru Buddha and Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. The building is open daily from nine to six and has a Buddhist book and utility store. The temples in the temple are English, Standard Basket and Standard Kantonees.

Since 1998, the temple is managed by the International Buddhism Friendship Association (IBFA). Bhikkhu Ji Ru of the Mid-America Buddhist Association also maintains the temple. Since 2003, the temple is located at the South Wentworth numero 2249 in Chicago Chinatown to serve the Chinese community better. The image of Guanyin Bodhisattva was blessed in 2005 by a large prayer ceremony.

In Chicago Chinatown there are two other important Chinese religious buildings: St. Therese Chinese Catholic Church and Chinese Christian Union Church.
