In 2012, the company had production facilities in Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, Russia and Turkey, with about 16,000 employees. Important brand names besides Indesit are Hotpoint and Scholtès. In 1975, Merloni Elettrodomestici SpA was founded by Vittorio Merloni. In 1985, Indesit took over the biggest competitor at the time. Both brands remained adjacent. In 1987, the company received a listing on the Milan stock exchange.
In 2005, the entire company was named Indesit, but in Italy the remaining names still exist.
