Map of the Metropolitan Area Florence-Prato-Pistoia
For the metropolitan area of Florence, Prato and Pistoia are the Tuscan area formed by the provinces of Florence, Prato and Pistoia, established on 29 March 2000 with the deliberation of the Regional Council of Tuscany.
This territory is made up of a total of 69 municipalities, extending 4,844 square kilometers, including 1 523 091 inhabitants (density of 314 ab / km²), of which 24% corresponds to the population of Florence.
The area in question was established by the Regional Council of Tuscany on 29/03/2000 (Resolution No. 130) with the following statement: The Metropolitan Area of Florence, referred to in art. 17, paragraph 2 of Law 8.6.1990, no. 142 as amended by Law no. 265/1999, is made up of the entire territory of the provinces of Florence, Prato and Pistoia. "The same decree also states:" Under the Metropolitan Area, the local authorities concerned will promote, by mutual agreement, the appropriate forms of cooperation and integration ".
