TERPROM

TERPROM (Terrain Profile Matching) is a navigation system with to ground and obstacle alarms. It is used both for automatic guidance on some military aircraft details, such as the Panavia Tornado, or installed on missiles. Essentially the system is based on an altimeter radar that allows you to track the contour of the terrain combined with digital terrain mapping maps. It is also used as an alarm system to prevent the aircraft from flying too close to the ground.

This system is manufactured by Plymouth Atlantic Inertial Systems, formerly a subsidiary of BAE Systems, acquired by Goodrich Corporation in December 2009.

The TERPROM system is used on the following aircraft: F-16, Mirage 2000, Harrier, SEPECAT Jaguar, Panavia Tornado, A-10, Eurofighter Typhoon, BAE Hawk, C-130 and C-17 Storm Shadow.
