Mata Amritananda Mayi Devi, (Amritapuri, (Kerala), India September 27, 1953) is an Indian spiritual leader.

She is seen by her followers as a Mahatma, meaning in Sanskrit "elevated soul." Also, she is called Amma, which means "mother." Everyone who comes to her gets a short hug, sometimes more than 10,000 people during a session. These sessions take place all over the world. Grandmother often takes over 16 hours to embrace people and give advice on both earthly and spiritual issues. She started embracing people when she was only 20 and since then her hair is the way to show her love for everything that lives.

In India, she is especially known for her social actions, such as building 100,000 homes for widows, unmarried mothers and poor.
