Celso Cardinal Costantini, founder of the congregation
The Congregation of the Lord's Disciples (Latin: Congregation Discipulorum Domini, C.C.D.) is a Roman Catholic Mission constitution established in 1927 by Celso Cardinal Constantini, Pope's Delegate in China. Constatini was particularly active in China, where he founded several schools, associations, parishes and a Catholic university. The purpose of the Congregation was to support the mission in China through the efforts of Chinese religions. In addition, the governance of the institutions established by Constantini was brought under the congregation. The first congregation house was located in Beijing, later a house was opened in Shanghai. After the power takeover by Mao Zedong in 1949, the headquarters of the congregation was moved to Taipei. Meanwhile, the mission congress also had foundations in Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and the United States.
The congregation now applies to education, youth and youth work and the poor care.
General Commander of the Lord's Disciples Congregation has been Francis Chong since 21 October 2016.
