Dutch Genealogical Society

The Dutch Genealogical Association (NGV) was founded in 1946 with the aim of promoting genealogical research. The association offers members assistance in searching for ancestors, organizing and storing research data and documents and compiling genealogical publications.

The association is based in Amsterdam, but is managed by the Association Center (VC) in Bunnik. In addition to the departments of Heraldry and Family Organizations, the association also has 27 regional departments. These organize lectures, meetings and excursions. The association publishes the magazine Gens Nostra 6 times a year. The association has nearly 8000 members.

The computer is no longer considered by genealogical research. Since 1983, the NGV is engaged in computer science and has developed various genealogical software packages such as GD / D90, GD-Win and GensDataPro. Publications Genetic genealogy

The association, together with the Royal Dutch Society for Gender and Heraldry and the Genealogical Association Ons Voorgeslacht, took the initiative for a national project for genetic genealogy in the Netherlands. In this project, the results of DNA research are used to determine family relationships. The first results of the project were presented in Adam's sons, which appeared at the end of 2008.
