Melis Bloemsma (Emmer-Compascuum, 4 October 1925 - Stadskanaal, 28 January 1998) was an elder in the municipality of Stadskanaal. Bloemma was a member of the Labor Party. Life and work
Bloemma worked at Purit in Klazienaveen and was already young in the trade movement. In the sixties he moved to Stadskanaal with his family, where he had a job at Philips. In 1971, he was elected as an elder, a function he fulfilled until May 1990. As City Hall's Alderman were its main portfolios of well-being and public health.
In October 2008, the Melis Bloemsma Fund was established in Stadskanaal, which aims to compensate unavoidable expenses for people who are in a safe position if they can not rely on other options, such as special assistance. >
