The Tao of Physics (1975) is the first book published by Fritjof Capra, translated in Italian in 1982 (Adelphi) and became famous only with the reprint of 1989.
In this volume Capra conducts an analysis of the analogies between the relativistic and quantum theories of modern physics, and Oriental religious philosophies, including Hinduism, Mahāyāna Buddhism, and in particular Taoism and Zen. p>
Capra considers it significant that, through very different experiences - one (physics) through rational and codified empiricism, and the other (Eastern religious philosophy) through meditation and extra-sensorial experience - come to conclusions and abstract considerations, based on principles of conceptual analogy, very similar. The vision of the "world" that derives from it and that would associate relativistic and quantum physics with Oriental religious philosophies is completely different from the mechanistic vision derived from Newton.
