Cuckmere (river)

The Cuckmere is a river in England that originates near Heathfield in East Sussex in the south of the Weald and opens into the Channel. The location of the mouth is called Cuckmere Haven. In its upper course, the Cuckmere has many bee rivers whose River Bull is the most important.

The name probably appears from an Old English term for "fast-flowing": the decline in the first 7 km is more than 100 meters. Near the estuary, the river flows through the Cuckmere Valley, a tidal nature reserve.
