The Eredivisie ice hockey is the highest Dutch division in ice hockey. The 2008/09 season is the 49th season of the Eredivisie. The title defender is Destil Trappers Tilburg. It has been for the first time since the 1993/94 season that the Eredivisie consists of more than eight teams.

The Netherlands is divided into a number of security regions. These regions are subject to many regulations. This is called 'Wet veiligheidregio's'.
