Melanie Susan (Mel) Appleby (Hackney, July 11, 1966 - January 18, 1990) was a British singer who died at the age of 23 to the effects of cancer. In the eighties, she had a success with her sister Kim as the pop duo Mel & amp; Kim. Under the guidance of Stock, Aitken & amp; Waterman achieved the show out (get fresh at the weekend) and Respectable ranked number one in several countries. From the album F.L.M. worldwide 3 million copies were sold.
The first time cancer was detected with her, in December 1985, was still for Mel & amp; Kim. A tumor was removed from her liver, but in mid-1987 a new swelling was found, this time at her spine. On January 18, 1990, Appleby died of pneumonia, which she could not overcome by her reduced resistance.
