Hero Group is a Swiss company in food products with fruit as the main ingredient. Hero was founded by Gustav Heinckell and Gustav Zeiler in Lenzburg in Aargau in 1886. After the death of Gustav Zeiler in 1889, the company name changed to 'Heinckell und Roth'.
On July 22, 1914, Hero linked his name to a small factory in Breda, which until then made confiture and fruit pulp. Since then, Hero has produced several canned foods. The name was completely the 'N.V. Hero Canned Breda '. In 1933 Hero introduced its own brand of soft drinks that competed against the gazeuses without brand: Hero Perl apple simonade, followed by sinas, raspberries, grapefruit and cassis, in 1938.
Hero's most important acquisitions were those of De Betuwe in 1987 and Herschi in 1989.
In 1995, Dr. Arend Oetker through subsidiaries, with the Schwartau Group, received 97.6% of the shares.
