Hethum I of Armenia


Hethum I (Armenian: Հեթում Ա), (ca.1215 - 1270/71?) was king of Armenian Cicilia by his marriage to Isabella from Armenia from 1226 to 1270. He was a son of Constantine, Lord of Barberon; He was also the founder of the house Hethumiden after the house of the Rubennids was extinct after the death of his wife in 1252.

Hethum married 14th June 1226 with Isabella of Armenia. Hethum became king consort of Armenia from 1226 to 1252, then (after the death of Isabella), the power of attorney as king until 1270. The couple got six children:
