Jannes Vincent


Jannes Vincent (born Holten, January 21, 1820 - October 30, 1897) was a Dutch mayor. Life and work

Vincent was a son of the mayor of Holten Jan Vincent and Maria Dikkers. He succeeded his father as mayor of Holten, as well as the position of municipal secretary of this place. Vincent was the mayor of Holten from 1844 until his death in 1897.

During his mayorhood he was convicted of a fine of 40 (7 days in prison) together with his son and some others for hunting out of hunting with more than four people without a license from the Commissioner of the Kings . The deer and the guns were forfeited. It did not prevent the father and son's career. Vincent remained mayor of Holten and son Everhardus became municipal secretary. Vincent was a member of Provincial States of Overijssel from 1880 to 1886 for the district of Markelo.

Vincent married Voorver with the Everdina Ankersmit born in Terwolde on February 16, 1847.
