Sint-Rochuskerk (Rugge)

The Saint-Rochus church was a Roman Catholic church in the district of Rugge in the Belgian municipality of Avelgem. The neighborhood is also known as the Waterhoek from the Stijn Streuvels Discovery of the Water Corner (1927).

It was not a parish church, there should be no funeral or marriages, but ordinary eucharist celebrations. Until 1997, Avelgem Motorists organized their motorbikes, this is happening in Avelgem itself. Own church

The hall church was raised by the inhabitants of Rugge, by hand, to a plan by architect Georges Martyn. In 1956 it was initiated by Bishop Emiel-Jozef De Smedt. The bidding place was closed in the late 1990s because of the reduction of the number of priests and misconceptions.

The church is currently being transformed into a new kindergarten, replacing the current Schoolke Rugge. 50° 46′ 49″ NB, 3° 27′ 55″ OL
