Ship of the Cape Verde Coast Guard
The Cape Verde Armed Forces consist of an army and a Coast Guard.
The army has its own air quota. Following staff training by the USSR in 1982, three Antonov An-26 aircraft were delivered to Cape Verde. These are the only military aircraft in use at the country. These three aircraft were supplemented in 1991 with a Dornier Do 228 equipped for coastguard tasks. In the late 1990s, there was also an Embraer EMB-110, also for maritime operations.
