Command bunker Badhuisweg

Entrance to the Badhuisweg

The Command bunker on the Badhuisweg is on the edge of the Nieuwe Scheveningse Bosjes in The Hague.

The German occupier built a bunker complex in 1943. In this bunker complex and the villas on the Badhuisweg, the Verteidigungsstab was located which commanded the 'Stützpunktgruppe Scheveningen' command.

The complex consisted of fifteen bunkers, most of which were preserved. There are six bunkers from the Ständiger Ausbau category, which means that walls and roofs were at least two meters thick. Outside the command post (type 608) there are two group accommodations (type 622), a kitchen (type 645), a source entrance (type 646) and an ammunition storage room (type FL246). The remaining bunkers were of the category feldmäßig (thin-walled). There was also a Luftschutzbunker within the boundaries of the complex. The bunkers and trenches of the complex were built in 1943/1944 under the leadership of Arthur Seyss-Inquarts construction organization Abteilung Siedlung und Bauten. The command number of the command bunker was 32-8711: number 32 indicates that it belongs to Clingendael, there are 56 bunks starting with 32. The 32-8711 was listed as 'Bataillons, - Abteilungs- oder Regiments-Gefchtsstandstand'. In this case, the outer walls are made in 3 meters concrete because the bunker is partially above the ground level. Opening

The bunker was unveiled at the initiative of the Stichting Atlantikwall Museum Scheveningen in September 2008 and has since been in charge of this foundation. The bunker is partly restored in its original state and there is an exhibition about The Hague in the Second World War. 52° 6′ 20″ NB, 4° 17′ 45″ OL
