Jacques Devincke (Ghent, April 17, 1944 - Lochristi, June 27, 2010) was a Flemish engineer architect who was involved in the construction of a number of stations in the 70's and 80's.
Devincke graduated from the former University of Ghent in 1969. After that he joined the National Society of Belgian Railways (NMBS) and as such he designed a number of stations or was involved in the construction of others. This includes the station buildings of Eeklo, Ninove, Zele, Aalter, Genk, Zottegem, Boom, Tielt, ... Devincke remained active in the NMBS.
His designs are strongly colored by the spirit of time and the budget available (or earlier the lack): the 1970's designs are generally rather sober, inspired by Douma. In the 1980s, postmodernism controlled architecture and gained more interest in station design, which also reflected Devincke's designs: many of its stations from that period have strikingly bright colors and use a lot of metal.
