Eduardo Duhalde

Eduardo Duhalde

Eduardo Duhalde (Lomas de Zamora, 5 October 1941) was the 53th president of Argentina who completed the official term of office of Fernando de la Rúa from 1 January 2002 to the end of 2003. As Vice President of former President Carlos Menem (1989 -1993) he is a well-known peronist. From 1991 Duhalde, two terms long, is governor of the main Argentinian province, Buenos Aires. During the campaign prior to the 1999 presidential election, he opposed attempts to make a third term for President Menem. When this disappears, Duhalde becomes the Peronist's candidate. He loses from the Fernando de la Rua Radical, which he takes 2 years later, because De la Rúa is forced to leave the people. There is an unfortunate task for him, because Argentina in 2002 is in a deep crisis. Duhalde is thus entering into history as the president who realized the disengagement of the Argentinian peso of the US dollar.

Duhalde started his career as a lawyer. Media files
