Erehof Hattem


Erehof Hattem is located at the Hattem general cemetery at the Kerkhofdijk in the province of Gelderland. There is one Commonwealth War grave just past the entrance of the cemetery. The erehof consists of one stone with the following name: History

John Patrick Standidge Austin was an English Sergeant of the Royal Berkshire Regiment. He was part of the so-called Jedburgh team, which was dropped on September 12, 1944, at a disposal site at Rijssen. Austin was telegraphist and had to maintain contact with the military intelligence service in London and with the Wensum Transmitting Allied Army. Austin had an undercover address in Daarle. From there he worked with his colleague Jaap Beekman of the Special Commissions Office (BBO).

On 18 November 1944 Austin was arrested at his shelter address in Luttenberg. On April 4, 1945 he was fired and fired with five resistance fighters on the Geldersedijk in Hattem.
