Housing distribution

Housing distribution in the Netherlands is a system of rules to divide housing. Such rules are required if demand is greater than the offer, while the rental prices are regulated. These are homes with a rent below the rent price liberalization limit of € 710.68 per month (January 2015 price level), housing with higher rental rates in the free sector.

Housing corporations and municipalities rule out the way in which the vacant rented houses are distributed. The rules may differ by municipality. Some municipalities and corporations make dozens of detailed rules, others a few main lines, and sometimes there is no rule, but the vacant homes are closed.

In most cases, one must first enroll to qualify for a home. Often, registration costs are associated - sometimes annually, sometimes once. The costs vary from case to case.

Many housing corporations publish their rules and "current offerings" of homes over the internet. Sometimes this is done individually (per corporation separately), often it is done in a common context. There are several housing districts such as Thuisinlimburg, Klik voor Wonen (Breda), De Woonzoeker (Zwolle), The Hague, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Almere, Gooi en Vechtstreek, Haarlem, Drechtsteden and Rotterdam.
