Vanryckeghem was a general practitioner of education and settled in Waregem in 1947. He was first elected in the city council in 1964, after which he became sports and culture ships from 1971 to 1988. From 1989 to 1991 he led the city of Waregem as mayor, and then resigned to the council until 1994. < / p>
He is the father of the current mayor of Waregem Kurt Vanryckeghem.
