Öwezgeldi Ataýew (1951) is a Turkmen politician.
Former President of Turkmenistan's Supreme Council, appointed Turkmenistan's Interim President immediately after President Saparmurat Niyazov's death, was, however, withdrawn a few hours later by the Turkmeno People's Security Council on charges of abuse and violation of human rights in nutrition. Following these allegations, one of the Deputy Prime Ministers and Health Minister Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow was appointed new interim president.
