Rudolph Otto Arend from Holthe to Echten (Assen, June 22, 1849 - Emmen, September 9, 1908) was a Dutch lawyer. Life and work

Jhr. Mr. Van Holthe to Echten was a son of the president of the court of Assen Pieter Adam van Holthe to Echten and Petronella Maria Nicolette de Court. He studied law and graduated in 1874 at the University of Leiden. In March 1876 he became Registrar of the Raalte District Court. In May 1877 he was appointed Counselor in Emmen. Besides canton judge he was a school supervisor in the district of Emmen between 1880 and 1901. He died in September 1908 at the age of 59 in Emmen.

Married from Holthe to Echten on 5 June 1885 in Emmen with Maria Digna Oosting, daughter of notary Sjuck Johannes Oosting and Digna Cornelia Hofstede. Villa Oosting

From Holthe to Echten lived in Emmen in a villa on the Main Street. This mansion was built in 1850 by the mayor of Emmen Lukas Oldenhuis Tonckens. Also his successor as mayor of Emmen Willem Tijmes used this property initially as his office. From Holthe to Echt, this villa bought directly after his arrival in Emmen in 1877 from Mayor Tijmes. The villa was broken down in 1939 to make way for a new white villa from the Oosting family. Later this building was used by the board of the Noorder Dierenpark and as a pancake restaurant D 'Oude Drommedaar.
