Swier Broekema (Smilde, September 27, 1920 - Blaricum, January 17, 2009) was a Dutch director.

Broekema grew up in Hoogkerk and was from 1970 to 1976 in the city council of Groningen, first for the ARP and then for the CDA. Broekema was from 1979 to 1985 the crisis manager and head of Radio Noord, after a period of turmoil and conflict, he managed to bring the broadcaster into quieter waters.

From 1966 to 1980 he was Director of the Cultural Council of the province of Groningen. According to the current Commissioner of the Queen, Max van den Berg, who regularly had him with him, Broekema was a passionate advocate of the cultural heritage of Groningen. He was with that, says Van den Berg, his time far ahead, because at the time the stories of Groningen were not particularly prominent on the agenda.

Broekema had a huge collection of books; of the total of about 15,000 pieces is the part that is being held in Groningen in Het Hoogeland Museum in Warffum.
