Ernst J. R. Sudhölter is a Dutch chemist and professor.

Sudhölter studied organic and physical chemistry at the University of Groningen. In 1981 he obtained cum laude from professor Jan Engberts. From 1981 to 1984 he worked as a researcher for Shell's laboratory in Amsterdam. In 1984 he became an associate professor at the University of Twente in Enschede in the department of professor David Reinhoudt. In 1990 he was appointed professor of organic chemistry at the University of Wageningen. In 2007 he became chairman of the Chemical Engineering Department of TU Delft, and also Professor of Nano-Organic Chemistry in that department.
