Leon De Foere


Leon De Foere (Bruges 1843 - Saint Andries 1915) was a Belgian historian.

Léon De Foere was the son of the doctor Lodewijk De Foere (Tielt April 24, 1795 - Bruges 1 November 1865) and Marie-Thérèse Van Hoorne (Lichtervelde 12 May 1810 - Bruges 12 December 1891). His father Louis was the younger brother of priest and constituent Leo de Foere. He obtained his doctorate in medicine at the University of Ghent in 1825. He lived and had his practice in Bruges in the Flemish street.

The Féve was a doctor in law (KU Leuven, 1865) and lived as a renowned citizen in Bruges and Saint Andries. He became a board member of the Society for History in Bruges in 1873. He was treasurer in 1873-1874 and 1882-1891. From 1877 to 1882 he was a librarian and secretary from 1882. Publications Literature
