Upper Francone

Upper Francone is an unobtrusively justified grouping of German-speaking dialects that are part of the Franco-speaking language and are spoken in the transition areas between Upper German and Central Germany. It is divided into eastern france and south francone.

The dialect is spoken in the Nuremberg, Karlsruhe, Erlangen, Fürth, Heilbronn, Würzburg and Plauen areas of Germany and in a small area in France. Among the surnames in the Upper Franconia area are Bauer, Hofmann, Merkel, Paulus, Schmidt and Schneider. The Upper Francon has resemblances with the Yiddish East.
