Fortunato Chelleri

Fortunato Chelleri (Parma, May [or June] 1690 - Kassel, December 11, 1757) was an Italian composer.

After studying music with his uncle Francesco Bassani, chaplain master in Piacenza, around 1710 he moved to Spain, where he composed a number of works that made him famous in Europe.

In 1723 he moved to Würzburg where the bishop invited him as a music adviser and two years later obtained Carlo I the role of master chaplain of court and music director.

During his stay at Cassel, he staged Innocence Defense.

1726 was the year of his transfer to England, where he remained five years before accepting the invitation of Federico I of Sweden, who welcomed him as an artistic consultant. Notemodify wikitesto Links externalize the wikitesto
