Joachim van Wisch

Glory Wisely

Joachim van Wisch last lord van Wisch 1519-1544, Borculo, Wildenberg, Lichtenvoorde and Overhagen. He was the son of Hendrik V van Wisch and Walburga van den Bergh.

Joachim is the most famous teleg from the genus Wisch. He was also called Wisch's restless child. At a very youthful age, he undertook a trip to France to learn there. He was in good standing with Duke Charles van Gelre. Duke Charles protected Joachim's goods during his absence. After one year, when Joachim returned, the difficulties arose between Wisch and Bergh. It started with a dispute between Joachim and his mother Walburga van den Bergh about the legacy of the young deceased Count Frederik van den Bergh, Mr. van Hedel. This Count Frederik van Bergh was a brother of Walburga van den Bergh, but Frederik had untouched her before his death. Joachim claimed to have some claims through his mother Walburga. He would like to reunite Wisch. Joachim married Countess Margaretha van Salm, who did not give him children.

However, he had four natural children mentioned in his will:

By the death in 1525, a uncle of Joachim, Gijsbert van Wisch, he acquired Overhagen at Velp. In 1528, Joachim received an appointment as chief and commander in the Overkwartier.

After his death, the legacy went to his sister Ermgard van Wisch
