Museology is the study of museums and the way they developed in their role as educational medium under social and political pressure. Among other things, we look at the way in which museums were built and how the exhibitions were arranged. Museology also focuses on studies for the target groups for whom a museum or exhibition is intended and what the possible future of museums will be.
Museum director Zbynek Z. Stransky is often seen as the founder of museumology in Europe. However, it is not yet widely recognized by historians and scholars as an official study.
