Plateau Cemetery

The Cimetière du Plateau is a military cemetery with French demolitions of the First World War, located in the Belgian village of Rossignol in the municipality of Tintigny. The cemetery is more than two kilometers north of the village center, along the road to Neufchâteau (N801), in the midst of a vast forest. More than 600 defunct French soldiers are commemorated.

On 22 August 1914, the French colonial troops met the German infantry groups. In the battle there were about 3,000 deaths. The cemetery was built by the German occupier during the war since 1917, along with the larger Cimetière de l'Orée de la Forêt at the edge of the forest and a disappeared cemetery along the road to Marbehan. The cemetery was protected as a site in 1989.
