Scorpio Films was the production company of the winners Wim Verstappen and Pim de la Parra. The company was founded in 1965 and lasted until 1978.
Pim & amp; Wim, like Verstappen and De la Parra, were mentioned in the press, worked together since 1965 after they had met each other in the editorship of the film magazine Skoop. The first long film of the two was The less happy return of Joszef Katus to Rembrandt's country (1966) and although that film did not score well, the collaboration between Pim and Wim proved to be very fruitful. From the idea that "you are filming is more important than what you are filming", they together plan to produce a continuous stream of movies with the Stichting Continue Speelfilmproductie. That idea was innovative, as up to now only three Dutch films have been on average a year. Blue Movie was directed by Verstappen and produced by De la Parra. He scored almost 2.5 million movie visits and ranked number 5 in the top 10 best-viewed Dutch films. The film led to the removal of the Central Film Commission. Other titles include Frank and Eve, Alicia and Dakota.
When the movie Wan Pipel, the first Surinam feature film, led to excessively high production costs in 1976 and Scorpio became financially close, they decided to go their own way under Scorpio De la Parra and Scorpio Verstappen. In addition, it has to be noted that the two have come to the conclusion that they began to develop individual wishes in the artistic field. Until Pastoral 1943, they continued to use the name Scorpio Films for their presentations.
Today, Wim Verstappen Scorpio Films has been registered with the Chamber of Commerce by the Stichting Continue Speelfilmproductie.
