Before 443 he had a charge that placed him in the Syria government, or as Comes Orientis or Consularis Syriae; before Anatolian became magister militum (charged in 443), Zoilo, Memnonius and Callisto were sent to Antioch by Emperor Theodosius II, and in this town Zoilo erected an imperial army.

Before 442, he had a Prefecture of the Praetorian, honorary or perhaps of the Illyrian; in 444 it was Prefect of the Pretoria of the Orient.
