Crónica X is the name given by Mesoamerican researchers to what is believed to be the primary source dating to the 16th century, of the historical tradition of the Aztecs and other pre-Columbian civilizations. According to some scholars, it would provide the basis for many other similar works of the sixteenth century still existing. We do not know who the story was and the work is lost if it ever existed, but it is believed to have been used as a source for many other chronicles that contain strong similarities, including Diego's works Durán, Juan de Tovar and José de Acosta.
The similarities between the materials and contents of the Durán, Tovar and Acosta codes were first noted by Robert Barlow in 1945, which led him to assume that they could all be based on a particular source in common, which he called Crónica X . Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto
